Andy Hart On The Adam Jones Show: Loss Of Mayo ‘A Big Blow’ To Patriots
BOSTON (CBS) – Andy Hart of Patriots Football Weekly joined 98.5 The Sports Hub’s The Adam Jones Show on Tuesday to discuss the loss of linebacker Jerod Mayo, along with New England’s upcoming game with Jets.
“This is the second captain on the defense you could potentially lose for the season,” Hart said of the loss of Mayo. “(Mayo) is your best player at that second level. We reached the point where people were taking the defense seriously, but now you see injuries start to chip away. I don’t think they have a ton of depth.”
“Mayo is a guy that is on the field all three downs. In the last year and a half hes elevated into a play-maker, and hes always been a calming force that gets everyone in the right position and makes the calls and all of that,” said Hart. “This is a big blow, especially when compounded with the loss of Vince Wilfork already.”
Do the Patriots have a player that can step up and fill the void left by Mayo’s absence? Also on the injury front, what is the latest with corner Aqib Talib, who left Sunday’s comeback win with a hip injury?
