WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Carl Stevens reports
Sixty-four-year-old Susan Macchi and 23-year-old Juliet Macchi died in the early morning crash as they returned home from a Red Sox game.
The 25-year-old Basler was off duty and returning from a party.
Police say his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit to drive.
Basler, who was released on personal recognizance, has been placed on unpaid leave. Neither he nor his lawyer has commented, but he told police at the scene he had no recollection of the crash.
