Taunton Woman Wakes To Find Intruder In Her Bed
TAUNTON (CBS) – Police in Taunton have sent out a warning to residents after a three disturbing break-ins. Police say a man is approaching women who are sleeping in their beds, regardless of whether or not the women are alone.
Detectives say in the most recent case, the man sexually assaulted a victim. The woman tells police that she woke up screaming and then a man crawled out from under her blankets.
In all three cases, what appears to be the same suspect came in through an unlocked door or window. Police say the female victims were in bed and woke up to the man touching them. The victims also reported that jewelry had been stolen.
Police want residents who live near Winthrop, Barnum and Clinton streets to give them a call if they see anything suspicious. The suspect is described as a stocky white man with dark hair and a light beard.
Neighbors in the area are concerned. “It’s terrifying because you don’t know what is going to happen maybe they are going to kill you before you are even able to open your eyes,” said Madalena, who has lived in neighborhood for 35 years.
“It’s kind of like a woman’s worst nightmare; some people probably can’t even sleep at night anymore knowing that this guy is out there,” said Josh, who lives down the street from one of the attacks. “It’s just disgusting that someone would actually do that.”
