BOSTON (CBS) – A South Boston man who allegedly stole a police cruiser is facing attempted murder charges.

Wilfredo Rodriguez, 37, was held on $150,000 cash bail Monday.

Police were responding to a break-in early Saturday morning in South Boston when Rodriguez allegedly jumped in a cruiser. He is accused of hitting the officer, then trying to run him down a second time as police opened fire.

Rodriguez crashed the cruiser by the JFK MBTA station.

If Rodriguez makes bail, he's been ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device.
