Hit-And-Run Driver Strikes, Seriously Injures 87-Year-Old Man In Newton

NEWTON (CBS) -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash Friday night that seriously injured an 87-year-old Needham man.

At about 7:15 p.m. Friday, the man was struck while walking with his wife on Walnut Street, the police said.

The injured man was taken to Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition Saturday, the police said.

Witnesses told investigators the woman driving the vehicle that hit the Needham man was in her 60s. Surveillance video from the Newton Highland Wine and Spirits Company on Walnut Street shows a woman, who is possibly the hit-and-run driver, making a purchase then pulling out of the parking lot. Police said they had found the woman seen on the surveillance video and were interviewing her Saturday.
