Mass. DA To Seek College Stabbing Suspect's Return

SALEM (AP) — Massachusetts prosecutors say they'll seek a governor's warrant to extradite a college assault suspect who has declined to voluntarily return from New York.

The Essex County, Mass., district attorney's office said Thursday that 25-year-old Timothy Wells of Woburn remains held without bail in the Columbia County Jail in Hudson, N.Y., on a fugitive charge after refusing to waive rendition.

Wells faces two counts of attempted murder after allegedly slashing a female student on a Salem State University shuttle bus, then stabbing the driver who came to her aid. Neither was seriously hurt in the Sept. 25 incident that led to a campus lockdown.

Wells was arrested that night in New York state.

Campus police said Wells is a senior on leave from Salem State. It's not immediately known who is representing him.
