Dunkin' Donuts Armed Robbery Spree Hits 18+

NEWTON (CBS) – Another local Dunkin' Donuts has been robbed and law enforcement sources tell WBZ-TV that's at least 18 incidents now likely involving the same man.

Newton police were called to the shop on Needham Street Wednesday night after a man robbed the staff at gunpoint.

Witnesses say the thief came in the back door wielding a pistol, told workers to hit the floor and said he would shoot them if they tried anything funny.

The man took money out of the register and the box near the register where workers store larger bills and then left store.

Police say the gunman was five-foot-six inches tall, weighed about 160 pounds and was wearing a sweatshirt, pants and mask that were all black. The same store was also robbed back on July 26.

Law enforcement sources told WBZ this is the same man who has hit at least 18 Dunkin' Donuts stores in the last several months in eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

"We continue to work with local law enforcement. We encourage anyone with information to contact the Canton Police Department, who are coordinating the investigation," Dunkin' Donuts said in a statement Thursday.
