Patriots Practice Report: Ridley Misses Wednesday's Session With Knee Injury

BOSTON (CBS) - New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley was one of three players to miss Wednesday's practice at Gillette Stadium.

The Patriots' practice report was a crowded one on Wednesday, with 14 players also listed as "limited" for the practice session.

Ridley's absence is a bit surprising, as the back showed no signs of an injury during New England's 30-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. He ran for 53 yards on 11 carries in that game, adding 26 yards on two catches.

For the season, Ridley has 174 yards on 47 carries and no touchdowns through the first four games.

Ridley was one of three Patriots absent from Wednesday's practice. The others missing were special teams captain Matthew Slater, who is sidelined indefinitely with a broken wrist, and Vince Wilfork, who is done for the year after undergoing surgery on his right Achilles on Tuesday.

Rookie receiver Aaron Dobson, who left Sunday's game after taking a big hit in the first half, was one of the 14 players listed as "limited" on Wednesday.

Dobson is a new addition to the Patriots' practice report, along with Ridley, receiver Kenbrell Thompkins (Shoulder), linebacker Dont'a Hightower (Knee) and safety Tavon Wilson (hamstring).

Both Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola were both limited again, though their returns remain up in the air. Each spoke with reporters after practice, and rolled out familiar quotes when asked about their status.

"Every day is getting better," said Amendola, who has been sidelined with a groin injury since Week 1. "[I'm] working hard and just trying to get back out there as quickly as possible."

"When I'm ready, I'm ready," said Gronkowski. "If it's this Sunday, next Sunday or the Sunday after, we're just going day-by-day. So I can't really tell you when that's going to be. I'm just working hard and feeling better every day."
