Crash Knocks Out Landline 911 Service In Rutland Area

BOSTON (CBS) – A car crash shut down landline 911 service to people who live in and around the town of Rutland Wednesday.

The fire department told WBZ-TV the crash cut the system's fiber lines around noon-time.

By Wednesday evening, the system was back up and running.

Calling 911 with a cell phone still worked during the outage.
