Man Attacks Cyclist On Boston's Southwest Corridor, Steals Bike
BOSTON (CBS) -- A woman riding her bike through the Southwest Corridor on Saturday night told police she was attacked and wrestled off her Schwinn.
The victim, who does not want her identity revealed, reported that a man in his 30s ran up to her near Claremont Street and Greenwich Park, yelled "Stop! Boston Police! Give me the bike!" and threw her to the ground.
The man hopped on the bike and fled down Durham Street and took a right on St. Botolph Street toward Copley Place.
"It was not his first crime," the victim told WBZ-TV on Sunday. "He was very confident. He preyed on someone (older) and I'm sure he's twice my weight."
The woman escaped with only sore muscles but said her attacker is a predator who needs to be caught.
"I could tell he's a dangerous person. He needs to be caught before he hurts someone else," she said.
A police report on the incident describes the suspect as a white man, about 5'9" tall, with a stocky build. He is said to have a "sharp" nose and was last seen wearing a navy blue shirt and blue jeans.
The bike stolen Saturday night is a relatively small, black Schwinn with a BMC sticker on the handlebars.
Anyone with information about the incident can call Boston Police at 800-494-TIPS.
