Danny Amendola: 'I Anticipate Being 100 Percent Shortly'

BOSTON (CBS) -- Patriots wide receiver has missed two straight games, and his status for Sunday night's game in Atlanta remains very much in question due to a groin injury.

Despite not getting his Patriots career started the way he'd like, Amendola vows that not only does he plan to return soon, but he plans to do so at full health.

"I anticipate being 100 percent shortly. I don't know when, but I'm getting closer," Amendola said Wednesday, though he said there's no specific timetable for a return.

Amendola said he's "not really sure" if the injury is something that may hamper him when he does return to the field, but that he's noticing an improvement each day on the practice field.

"It's getting better," Amendola said. "Obviously I've been putting in a lot of work, so it's day by day. That's the way it goes -- that's the motto."

As for his chances for playing this week? Amendola, predictably, left the question unanswered.

"Just going day-by-day," he said. "So we'll see how I feel tomorrow."

Amendola caught 10 passes for 104 yards in the Patriots' Week 1 win in Buffalo, but it was a performance that proved costly to his health.
