Felger & Mazz: September 23, 2013
Felger and Massarotti kicked off the week discussing the New England Patriots 23-3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers yesterday. With yesterday’s win, the Patriots are now 3-0 this season. The last time the Pats started out 3-0 was in 2007. The Patriots are ranked 2nd in the NFL on defense, allowing an average of a little more than 11-points per game. What are the positives and negatives you can take from yesterday’s win? Are Tom Brady and the rookie receivers starting to click? On Friday, the Boston Red Sox clinched the American League East with a 6-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. How important is it for the Sox to finish with the best record in the American League? Was the Sox celebration on Friday night over the top?
In Hour 2, Felger and Mazz continued to discuss yesterday’s Patriots 23-3 win over the Buccaneers. The Pats offensive struggles, early in yesterday’s game, got the boo birds squawking. Did the Pats deserve to hear the boos from the fans? With the playoffs approaching, how should the Sox handle their starting rotation? Also, Mike and Tony react to some of the NFL’s Week 3 games. Has the NFC been overrated? Finally, the guys talked about Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel’s fight against Buffalo Sabres defenseman/forward John Scott.
During Hour 3 of Felger and Massarotti, the guys continued the talk about the Patriots win and the performance of Tom Brady. Is Brady starting to click with his young receivers? There are reports that Brady has reached out to Deion Branch and Brandon Lloyd. Is it even worth it to bring either of those receivers back? Felger and Mazz went on to discuss the Red Sox playoff roster. When will Jacoby Ellsbury return? How important is it to have some speed on the bench for the playoffs? Between Quintin Berry and Jackie Bradley Jr., who should the Sox have the postseason roster? To wrap up the hour, Felger and Mazz play “Who’s the bigger ‘A-Rod’?” The guys listen to Bill Belichick’s post game press conference and listen to Belichick’s back and forth with the NFL Network’s Albert Breer.
In the fourth and final hour, Felger and Mazz continue to pick through the positives and negatives in yesterday’s Patriots win over the Buccaneers. Are there any wide receivers available on the trading block for the Pats? How will the Patriots defense handle the Atlanta Falcons receivers next Sunday night? Finally, it’s the Final Word with Marc Bertrand.
