Car Strikes, Kills 19-Year-Old Pedestrian In Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) -- A 19-year-old woman was killed Monday night after a car hit her on Alewife Brook Parkway, the state police said in a prepared statement.

At about 7:40 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a pedestrian crash on Alewife Brook Parkway at the intersection with Terminal Road.

When they arrived at the crash scene, the troopers the injured teenager from Chambersburg, Pa., and she was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, the state police said. The name of the victim is not being released, pending notification of her family.

The single vehicle involved in the incident, a Toyota Corolla, was being driven by a 38-year-old Chelsea man, the state police said.

The facts and circumstances involved in the crash are under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, H Troop Investigators and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office State Police Detective Unit.
