North Adams Man Accused Of Murdering 84-Year-Old Woman

NORTH ADAMS (AP) — A 41-year-old North Adams man will be arraigned on a murder charge in the death of an elderly woman found slain in her home.

Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless said David Delratez is set to appear Monday in District Court in North Adams on murder and car theft charges in the death of 84-year-old Ellen DePaoli.

Delratez was charged Friday night and is being held without bail. It's not clear whether he has a lawyer.

DePaoli was found dead in her North Adams home Tuesday night. Authorities haven't released a cause of death.

Delratez was arrested Thursday in Bennington, Vt., driving DePaoli's car. He appeared in a Bennington court Friday on a fugitive warrant and agreed to come back to Massachusetts. He was formally charged with DePaoli's slaying on his return to the Bay State.
