21-Year-Old Billerica Man Killed In Bedford Crash Early Saturday Morning

BEDFORD (CBS) -- Authorities are investigating a single-car crash early Saturday morning that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Billerica man, the Bedford Police said.

At about 3:20 a.m., members of the Bedford Police Department and Bedford Fire Department were dispatched to a car crash near 97 Page Road, the police said. Authorities are not identifying the 21-year-old until notification of next of kin.

Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash and investigators are trying to determine whether there were any other factors, the police said.

Electrical wires from a damaged utility pole posed a threat to emergency workers at the crash scene and firefighters had to wait for NStar to shut off power to the area before the victim could be removed from the car, according to emergency dispatch information.

The Bedford Police and Middlesex District Attorney's Office are investigating the crash.
