High Honors For WBZ-AM, Named News Station Of The Year

BOSTON (CBS) - At a ceremony in Orlando, Florida Thursday night, WBZ NewsRadio 1030 was awarded the prestigious NAB Marconi Radio Award for News/Talk Station of the Year.

The award is given to one radio station in the country each year, in recognition for their overall excellence.

This is WBZ-AM's fifth Marconi Award since 1995. In 2010 the station was named Legendary Station of the Year. The station was previously recognized as News/Talk/Sports Station of the year in 1999 and Major Market Station of the Year in 1995 and 1998.

Fellow CBS Boston station 100.7 WZLX was named Rock Station of the Year at Thursday night's awards, held during the annual National Association of Broadcasters Radio Show.

At the same conference, earlier this week, CBS Radio Boston Market Manager Mark Hannon received the 2013 Radio Wayne Award for Market Manager of the Year. Hannon leads both WBZ NewsRadio 1030 and 100.7 WZLX, as well as 98.5 The Sports Hub, Mix 104.1 and 103.3 AMP Radio.
