FOXBORO (CBS) – Wounded military veterans joined survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings on the field before the start of the Patriots-Jets game Thursday night. The military group is from Operation Warrior Wishes and its director arranged the meeting, hoping the marathon amputees will get some inspiration from the veterans.

“It was just incredible, it was so great to hear the support from the crowd and to see all of the fellow bombing victims that I haven’t seen in a while,” said Heather Abbott who lost a foot in the marathon bombings.

Eleven people, who were wounded that day, were accompanied by eleven veterans who lost limbs in combat.

“Everyone is so nice, and it’s like we have a bigger family and we have more friends, and everyone’s so supportive,” said Sydney Corcoran.

There was a special tribute at Gillette Stadium, as the survivors of the bombing took the field through the Patriots’ team tunnel entrance. Then, they were treated to a VIP view of the game from the Club Level.

“It’s embarrassing because I’m just me,” said Celeste Corcoran who lost both of her legs. “I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I didn’t do anything heroic or anything I just lost my legs, and you know, my family, I almost lost my daughter.”

The Patriots donated the game tickets for the soldiers and bombing survivors. Operation Warrior Wishes is raising money for both wounded vets and The One Fund Boston.
