BOSTON (CBS) — With a very short week to prepare for the New York Jets on Thursday night, the Patriots may have a bit of a problem.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, wide receiver Danny Amendolais “almost certain” to miss Thursday night’s Patriots game against the Jets due to his groin injury.
The 27-year-old receiver was not present during the portion of Tuesday’s walkthrough practice that was open to the media, however he was listed as a limited participant on the official practice report.
Amendola was limited prior to the season opener with a groin issue, and it resurfaced late in the first half against Buffalo. However, Amendola didn’t miss much time, and he was Tom Brady’s most reliable receiver throughout the second half.
Amendola finished the game with 10 receptions for 104 yards, both team-highs.
Amendola was one of nine players listed as having limited participation in Monday’s and Tuesday’s walkthrough sessions, a list that included Aaron Dobson (hamstring) and Zach Sudfeld (hamstring).
Typically, a player missing practice two days before a game is a bad sign for that player’s availability to play.
Running back Shane Vereen will not play Thursday, as he reportedly underwent surgery to repair a broken wrist on Monday.
