UMass-Amherst Student Found Dead In Dorm Room

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Officials at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst say a 19-year-old sophomore has been found dead in his campus dorm room, and foul play is not suspected.

Spokesman Ed Blaguszewski says campus police found Evan Jones of Milton in his fourth-floor room of Washington Tower around 1 p.m. Saturday. He says the state medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy, however, UMass-Amherst police do not suspect foul play.

Blaguszewski says the university is providing counseling to residents of Washington Tower and other students, faculty and staff.
