Woburn Fire Department Ambulance Crew Delivers Baby On Side Of Road

WOBURN (CBS) -- Members of the Woburn Fire Department were rushing a woman in labor to the hospital Sunday afternoon, but her baby couldn't wait.

At about 4 p.m., an emergency call was received about a woman in labor on Route 128, the fire department reported. When Woburn's Rescue 1 ambulance arrived, the crew decided to take the woman to Winchester Hospital, which was just minutes away.

But time for the child's arrival soon ran out.

The ambulance crew had to pull over on Washington Street, where the firefighters delivered a healthy baby boy.
