BRIGHTON (CBS) – A traffic stop turned into a chase along the Charles River for State Police in Brighton Friday morning.

Troopers say they tried to pull Christopher Chubbuck, 30, of Dorchester, over for a traffic violation on North Beacon Street, but he sped off and then crashed over a curb.

Chubbuck then ran off and a search was launched around Soliders Field Road.

State Police said a K-9 tracked him down near Everett Street. He was wet, according to authorities, and may have been hiding in the river.

Chubbuck is now facing nine motor vehicle charges and a drug charge.  He also had an outstanding warrant, according to police.
