Daily Talker: Should You Be Held Responsible For Texting A Driver Who Gets Into A Crash?

Send a text.
Cause a crash.
You could be held liable.
That's the ruling from a New Jersey court.
Here's the background:
A 18 year old crashed his pickup into a couple on a motorcycle.
He was texting a friend at the time of the crash.
The couple filed suit against the pickup driver AND his friend.
In this case, the court ruled "someone who texts a motorist is not liable for the driver's negligent actions"
But listen to this -- the court also ruled someone who knows they are texting another person who is driving CAN be held responsible if there's an accident.
New Jersey and Massachusetts are 2 of 39 states that ban texting while driving.
Should you be held responsible for texting a driver who gets into a crash?
