Xander Bogaerts' Fenway Park Debut Put On Hold, As Stephen Drew Starts At Shortstop

BOSTON (CBS) -- Xander Bogaerts made his much-anticipated major league debut about as far from Boston as possible, going 0-for-3 in San Francisco last Tuesday night. He appeared in three more games on the Red Sox' West Coast swing, and with a left-hander on the mound for the Orioles in Boston tonight, the time looked right for Bogaerts to make his Fenway Park debut.

However, that will have to wait, as Stephen Drew will start for the Red Sox on Tuesday night against Baltimore's starter, Wei-Yin Chen.

The thought when Bogaerts was called up from Triple-A was that he'd get the starts against left-handers, as Drew is hitting just .198 with 46 strikeouts in 133 plate appearances. In Triple-A, Bogaerts hit .298 with a .926 OPS against lefties in 57 at-bats. He's 1-for-3 in the majors against lefties thus far.

The rest of the Red Sox lineup is below.

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Shane Victorino, RF
3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Jonny Gomes, LF
6. Mike Napoli, 1B
7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
8. Stephen Drew, SS
9. Will Middlebrooks, 3B
