Tebow Not Worried About Roster Cuts
BOSTON (CBS) – Roster cuts are looming for the New England Patriots and the rest of the NFL, and the name Tim Tebow has been a hot button topic when it comes to the final roster.
After a pair of unimpressive preseason games, Tebow is no guarantee to make the team when the 53-man roster is due on August 31.
But, roster cuts are not on Tebow’s mind.
“I just focus on one day at a time and improving in practice,” the third-string quarterback said Tuesday. “I’m just worried about improving every single day and having fun out there at practice.
Asked if the “situation makes him hungry,” Tebow has a little fun with the question.
“No, I eat enough,” he said with a big smile. “You just have fun every day at practice and try to improve and get better.”
Tebow is a combined 5-for-19 in his first two preseason games with the Patriots, passing for 54 yards and rushing for another 61 yards on 10 carries. He was 1-for-7 on Friday night against Tampa Bay, passing for minus-one yard.
The first round of roster cuts are due by Tuesday, August 27, when they have to be trimmed to 75. The Patriots currently have 84 players on their roster.
Tebow is intriguing not only because it his name is Tim Tebow, but because the Patriots have only carried three quarterbacks on their roster once in the last four years.
