Amendola Misses Practice For Second Straight Day

BOSTON (CBS) - New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola was absent from practice again on Tuesday, but it doesn't sound like it's a major concern for the team.

New England head coach Bill Belichick did not say much about Amendola's absences, but called the receiver "day to day" prior to Tuesday's session.

According to ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss, the nature of the injury is not known but Amendola is dealing with a minor issue that is not head-related.

Amendola caught six passes for 71 yards and a touchdown last Friday in New England's preseason win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He did not appear to be injured after the game, as he took time to speak with reporters. His absence on Monday was his first since signing a five-year deal with the Patriots this off-season.

After missing both Monday and Tuesday's practices, it's unlikely Amendola will play in the Patriots' preseason game in Detroit on Thursday night. Missing any game isn't good, especially for a player on a team with so many new parts, but Amendola's potential absence on Thursday will likely lead to more playing time for rookie receivers Aaron Dobson, Josh Boyce and Kenbrell Thompkins.
