Hy-Line Ferry Cancels Service After Problem On Vessel

HYANNIS (CBS) --- Hy-line Ferry service was shut down Tuesday after 'The Martha' began taking on water.

According to Philip Scudder, vice president of marketing for Hy-Line, a problem with a water jet in the port hull caused water to come into the vessel.

Thirteen people were onboard at the time, Scudder said.

"The Martha" was forced to return to port at Hyannis harbor for repairs.

Scudder said Tuesday afternoon, the ferry was temporarily repaired and would be taken to a shipyard for more repairs.

Trips between Hyannis and Martha's Vineyard were canceled Tuesday.
