Reported Shark Sighting In Weymouth Was A Sunfish

WEYMOUTH (CBS) - A reported shark sighting in Weymouth prompted lifeguards to order swimmers out of the water at Lane Beach on Thursday.

A dorsal fin was spotted offshore just after noon.

The Weymouth Harbormaster and Animal Control Officer searched the area but found nothing.

Experts have since identified the fish as an ocean sunfish, or Mola Mola, which has a dorsal fin that is commonly mistaken for a shark.
