FITCHBURG (CBS) — A city man was shot and killed early Saturday morning at Forest and Charles streets, according to a prepared statement from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Shaun Hibbard, 33, of 30 Hobson St., was pronounced dead at Leominster Hospital shortly after 4 a.m.

Hibbard and his assailant had a confrontation near Hibbard’s car, which was parked at Forest and Charles streets, Early said. Several shots were fired and Hibbard was hit by at least one. He ran up Forest Street knocking on several doors before collapsing. Several 911 calls were made to police to report gunshots.

Investigators do not believe this was a random shooting.

There have been no arrests.

The state Chief Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting in the investigation and will perform an autopsy, Early said. State police detectives assigned to Early’s office and Fitchburg Police detectives are investigating the case.
