NightSide - Kade Crockford Talk With Dan Rea About License Plate Scanners

BOSTON (CBS) - The ACLU has compiled a report on the little-talked-about technology of license plate scanners. Thousands of tiny high-speed cameras are being used to scan and record the license plates of cars that go by every day across the country. Right now, there are not many rules or restrictions on how long this data can be saved, or how it can be used or shared. Do you think it's a good idea to monitor innocent civilians in this way in the name of safety? Kade Crockford, Privacy Rights Coordinator for the ACLU of Massachusetts, sits down with Dan to talk about their findings.

Originally broadcast July 22nd, 2013.
