Phantom Gourmet: Moonstones In Chelmsford

CHELMSFORD (CBS) -- Small plates, filled with global flavors.

"Korea, Japan, China, Portugal, Spain, Mexico."

It's like a culinary world tour, at Moonstones in Chelmsford.

When Scott Plath opened Moonstones, he wanted to create a sleek and sexy space that gave suburbanites a taste of the city.

"Our comment cards constantly say, 'I can't believe we were in Chelmsford.'"

And when it comes to the food, the international options are almost endless... Rock Shrimp Tempura tossed in spicy siracha... a platter of cured Italian meats... fiery sweet Korean chicken wings... flatbread pizzas... soy laquered salmon... Seared Scallops over truffled potato... and peppadews stuffed with goat cheese.

"The pepper is spicy and it's sweet, and then you have the tanginess of the goat cheese, and then the real sweetness of the honey on top, and everything just works all together."

Moonstones global flavors carry all the way through to dessert... There's Brazilian Coconut Pudding... English Sticky Toffee Pudding... Italian Zeppole... New York Cheesecake... and a French Chocolate Pate so rich and thick you can barely get your spoon through it.

And with so many choices that are all so delicious, locals are thrilled to have such a sophisticated restaurant right down the road.

"It doesn't feel like you're in Merrimack Valley, it feels like you're in a big city."

"It has a really nice vibe when you come in, and the food's always delicious."

"and you definitely can try the whole world with the menu."
