NH Man Accused Of Burning Wife's Items
LACONIA, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man has been accused of burning his wife's belongings and fighting with police.
Police said John Swett of Laconia called his estranged wife shortly before 4 p.m. Monday to tell her he was planning to burn all of her property.
When police arrived, they found him near a pit with her items on fire. He was standing near several more boxes with her belongings near the fire pit.
Police said Swett turned off a hose being used by an officer to put out the fire, then grabbed another officer when police tried to turn it back on. Police used a Taser to subdue him.
Police said Swett later was able to slip out of a handcuff and began fighting with another officer before he was pepper-sprayed.
