Body of Missing Man Found In Mashpee Pond

MASHPEE (CBS) -- State and local dive teams found the body of a 43-year-old man who apparently drowned Saturday afternoon in Ashumet Pond, Massachusetts State Police said in a prepared statement.

The body was found at about 6 p.m. Sunday. The man's identity was not released.

At about 5 p.m. Saturday, a witness called 911 and reported a man in his 40s had gone under the water and did not resurface, according to the Mashpee Fire Department.

Public safety officials searched for the man until about sundown, then resume searching Sunday morning.

The man was swimming to a boat that was drifting after it had come loose from its mooring, the fire department reported.
