Dorchester Woman Killed In Sumner Tunnel Crash

BOSTON (CBS) – State Police are investigating a deadly crash in the Sumner Tunnel.

Officials say one person was killed and at least one other was injured in a single car crash just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the Government Center off-ramp.

Police say the car struck a concrete barrier at the lane split before colliding with the tunnel wall.

Police say several passersby stopped at the scene to try and help.

The driver, a 33-year-old Dorchester woman was killed. Her name has not been released.

Three adult passengers in the car suffered what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
