Boston Mayor Tom Menino To Write Book

BOSTON (CBS) – Boston's longest serving mayor is about to write a book.

Mayor Tom Menino has cut a deal with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to write about his time in office.

"It's about the 20 years. I took over 20 years ago as acting mayor and how we built on that into a city that stands alone in this country, that we're proud of an we want to tell our story about it," Menino told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

Menino is co-writing the book with author Jack Beatty, who grew up in Codman Square and wrote "The Rascal King" about former Boston mayor and Massachusetts governor James Michael Curley.

The book should be out next spring.
