MARBLEHEAD (CBS) — Deck season doesn’t last long around here. So you might as well make every moment count, right out on the ocean, at The Landing in Marblehead.

This old school seafood spot has been a beloved landmark years, set directly on top of Marblead Harbor. And according to General Manager Robert Simonelli, there’s an equal attraction to the English-style pub inside, and the sun-soaked deck outdoors.

“I’m torn between the outside deck and the pub. The pub is year round, just full of locals, lot of stuff going on in there… beer tastings or food specials. But then in the summertime I have to admit the deck is probably the place to be,” he says.

“The deck is literally over the harbor right there. The water is underneath the restaurant,” Simonelli said.

Certainly, fresh fish is the specialty here, from crispy fish tacos wrapped in house made tortillas to a full seafood festival over angel hair pasta. You can watch the local lobstermen pulling up their traps, while you indulge on one of the best lobster rolls on the North Shore.

“We use the fresh lobster meat, and the tail and the claw and it’s just coming out of the hot dog bun. It’s a traditional way to do it. This thing is gonna fill your head!”

Along with Bloody Marys and Dark n Stormys… You can order excellent burgers, pan-seared duck, and mussels sizzled in the saute pan with white wine, garlic, and julienned vegetables. And the portions will make you want to land here again and again.

“I haven’t heard one person walk out of here saying that they’re hungry. Food is abundant. Abbondanza as they say.”
