Couple Holds Spontaneous & Bittersweet Wedding At Emerson Hospital

CONCORD (CBS) - A bittersweet change of plans had a local couple set marry in August saying their vows in the courtyard at Emerson Hospital late last month.

On June 25, Danny Weaver and Paula Hatch-O'Loughlin exchanged wedding vows in front of friends and family.

Those family members included Danny's grandfather, Donald, who would pass away the next day.

Danny had wanted his grandfather to be there on his wedding day. So, after Donald Weaver was taken to Emerson Hospital on June 24, and doctors broke the news that he would probably would not make it, Danny and Paula convinced the hospital to let them hold the wedding there.

The hospital took care of everything: the flowers, the food, music courtesy of one of the nurses' ipod and even a photographer.

Most importantly, Danny's grandfather got to attend.

"I'm so thankful to the staff at Emerson, who had already taken such good care of him, and all of us, for the last six months. If not for them, none of this could have happened," Danny told the Community Advocate.
