It went back and forth for about a week, but finally the future of Doc Rivers was set. The coach would be making a move to the Clippers leaving the Celtics without a head coach and it seemed one would not be named for some time.
Then right before the July 4th holiday the Celtics broke the news that they have hired their next head coach. 36-year-old Butler coach Brad Stevens was named as the new head coach.
