BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox placed relief pitcher Andrew Miller on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a left foot sprain, the team reported.

With a roster spot open, pitcher Alfredo Aceves was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket. Aceves will be available for Sunday night’s game against the Angels.

Miller, 28, suffered a left foot sprain in the seventh inning of Saturday night’s game against the Angels. In 37 appearances out of Boston’s bullpen this year, Miller is 1-2 with a 2.64 ERA (9 ER/30.2), 17 walks and 48 strikeouts.

Aceves, 31, rejoins the Red Sox for his fifth major league stint of the season. With Boston this year, he has a 4-1 record with a 5.05 ERA
