State Police Fatally Shoot Man During Drug Raid In Orange

ORANGE (CBS) -- State Police shot and killed a man during a drug raid Wednesday morning.

It happened after 5 a.m. on Mechanic Street.

The State Police Special Tactical Operations Team was executing a search warrant as part of an investigation into the alleged sale of oxycodone and Percocet, when a 23-year-old man threatened police with a gun.

According to state police, a trooper or troopers fired at the man.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released his name.

Another resident of the apartment, a 25-year-old woman, suffered an eye injury and is being treated.

A second gun was later found in the apartment.

The incident is under investigation.
