Young Man Critically Hurt In Westminster Collision

WESTMINSTER (CBS) – A young man was critically injured in a violent two-car crash in Westminster Tuesday morning.

The vehicles hit each other on South Street just after 10:30 a.m.

One car rolled over. The driver escaped with minor injuries and her child, who fire officials say is less than a year old, was not hurt.

The second vehicle landed next to a telephone pole. Two people were inside, both in their late teens or early 20's.

A young woman managed to get out of the wreck with minor injuries, but the man she was travelling with was trapped.

Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut off the roof and free him.

He was rushed to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester in critical condition.

There's no word yet on what caused the crash.

No names were released and no charges have been filed at this point in the investigation.
