State Fire Marshal Warns About Bringing Fireworks Into Mass.

BOSTON (AP) — As the Fourth of July draws closer, Massachusetts' fire marshal is warning motorists that it's illegal to bring fireworks into the Bay State.

Fire Marshal Stephen Coan says while fireworks can be legally bought in other states, state law says they can't be transported into Massachusetts.

Authorities say police will confiscate fireworks if they make motor vehicle stops and find them, and that there are fines for the illegal possession and sale of fireworks.

Coan also says the explosives aren't safe and result in thousands of hospital visits across the country this time of year.
