Report: Doc Unsure About Return To Celtics

BOSTON (CBS) -  Doc Rivers may not be heading to Los Angeles, but he may not be returning to Boston either.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Rivers is unsure about returning to the Celtics after a blockbuster trade between Boston and the LA Clippers fell apart on Tuesday.

The deal would have sent Rivers and Garnett to the Clippers, but the two sides could not agree on the package Boston would receive in return.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge informed Rivers the deal was off on Tuesday, and let him know the team would still like him to return as their coach and finish out the final three years remaining on his contract.

But with potential backlash from Celtics fans after his desire to leave Boston rather than go through another rebuilding period, Rivers may choose to take the next few years off before returning to the bench.

It's possible Rivers could return to the broadcast booth, a position he held before taking the Celtics job in 2004.

A final resolution is expected in the next few days, according to Wojnarowski's source.
