NH Man Charged In 2-Year-Old’s Death

SOMERSWORTH, N.H. (CBS) — A 30-year-old man has been charged in the death of a New Hampshire toddler.

At 5:48 p.m. Friday, police were called to a Somersworth apartment for a 2-year-old in distress.

Noah York was taken to Wentworth Douglas Hospital where he later died.

Chief Medical Examiner Doctor Thomas A. Andrew determined that the cause of the child’s death was smothering.

The manner of his death was ruled a homicide.

Jared Pope, of Somersworth has been charged with manslaughter. Pope is expected to be arraigned Monday.

There is no word on what relationship Pope had with the child or how the child died.
