BELLINGHAM (AP) — Massachusetts State Police say a Rhode Island man is facing charges after a 4-year-old girl was killed when his car rolled over on Interstate 495 in Bellingham.
Police said the girl was thrown from the car when it went over the highway guardrail and overturned at about 6:30 a.m. Friday.
Police did not identify the girl except to say she was from Providence.
The driver, 22-year-old Luis J. Gonzalez of Providence, was not injured. He was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failing to properly secure the girl in a child safety seat. Another passenger, 20-year-old Ilienes Santana of Providence, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Gonzalez was expected to appear in court Friday. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
