Wednesday's Child: 10-Year-Old Isaiah

BOSTON (CBS) -- Isaiah is a lovable and engaging 10-year-old boy of African American and Caucasian descent who is small in stature.

Although he has a number of special needs, Isaiah also has many strengths. He is affectionate, likeable and usually calm. Most of the time, he is happy and enjoys playing with other children. He also does well with dogs in a home.

In his spare time, Isaiah loves playing outdoors and riding his bicycle. Playing with remote control cars, video games and books can also keep Isaiah busy. Isaiah likes school a lot and has historically done well in school. He also enjoys going to church with his group home.

Legally free for adoption, Isaiah is able to attach to his caretakers, who have all really liked him. He loves to help around the house and will follow directions. Isaiah has the diagnosis of moderate mental retardation and has not learned all self-care skills. He has some challenges related to trauma and loss issues. Isaiah's social worker is seeking a single or two-parent family of any constellation with or without other children.

To learn more about Isaiah, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org.

The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
