Wednesday's Child: 16-Year-Old Jose

BOSTON (CBS) – Jose, 16, is a personable and funny Hispanic teenager, who enjoys sports and extracurricular activities.

Through the years, Jose has learn to take care of himself and become independent. He would benefit from a family who would be sensitive to his self-sufficiency, yet also provide him with the support he needs as he enters young adulthood.

Jose does well in school, and all of his classes are either Honors or Advanced Placement classes. He is motivated and has attended the competitive Upward Bound Program for the past two summers.

Jose is looking forward to college and exploring his career options.

In past years, he has been on his school's football team, until a shoulder surgery left him out for the past season. Currently he plays soccer and tennis for the school, while also enjoying to long board.

Legally free for adoption, Jose hopes to find a permanent family in the Merrimack Valley area, so that he can remain in the same school. Jose is very close with his sister, and a family open to maintaining that bond would be ideal.

To learn more about Jose, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org.

The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
