Phantom Gourmet: Rox Diner

BOSTON (CBS) -- This is what a diner is supposed to be.

Hearty breakfasts to start the day. Overstuffed sandwiches for lunch and comfort food classics at dinner. At the Rox Diner, you'll want to eat here for all three meals, every day of the week.

"Order Up!"

Buddies John Fortin and Paul Louderback opened the original Rox Diner in West Roxbury six years ago, they opened another one in Newtonville in 2011, and a third one is on the way to Newton Highlands. But whatever location you visit, it's obvious that this ain't your grandfather's diner.

Breakfasts include fluffy pancakes, bagel sandwiches and French toast that's stuffed with good stuff and piled eye-poppingly high.

"Usually they're kinda take aback by the size of it, because it's almost eye level with you off the plate it gets up so high."

And no matter what you order, it's always served with REAL Vermont maple syrup.

For lunch, there's a deliciously messy meatball melt served with extra sauce on the side for dipping and a stack of cheddar, bacon, and tomato they proudly call 'The Ultimate Grilled Cheese.'

"That combination, where you get to taste equal proportions of the bread, of the cheese, the bacon, the tomato just crisps up a little bit, to us, we thought this is the ultimate grilled cheese, so there's the name."

Stick around for dinner and comfort food rules... From flame grilled pork chops, to impossibly juicy half pound burgers. Of course this is a diner, so breakfast is served all day... But no matter what you're in the mood for, a meal at the Rox Diner, really rocks.
