Elderly Man Dies After Rescue From Submerged Car In Fitchburg

FITCHBURG (CBS) – One of the two elderly people rescued from an overturned car in the Nashua River Sunday morning, has died.

UMass Memorial Medical Center confirmed Tuesday, Rene Boudreau, 85, died Monday evening.

The car driven by his wife, 80-year-old Marie Boudreau flipped over, submerging her and her husband in the cold water.

When rescue crews arrived, neither had a pulse. Crews said they did regain a pulse before being taken to the hospital.

The car entered the river near the British American Club in Fitchburg at approximately 8:45am, police said.

There was no word Tuesday on Marie Boudreau’s condition.
