BOSTON (AP) — State officials say they checked on more than 100 gas stations in the days leading up to the Memorial Day weekend to make sure all prices were being properly posted.

Officials say inspectors from the state division of standards performed three-point price checks to verify that street signs, posted pump signs and computer displays all registered the same price for a gallon of gas, as required by law.

Stations that offer discounts for paying with cash or other promotions must also include those on street signs.

Officials said the spot checks conducted over the past week found only a couple of violations. Two stations in the western part of the state were fined for not having signs posted on their pumps.
