BOURNE (CBS) — Some middle school students from Bourne got an early wake-up call for a drive to New Hampshire Monday, to launch a balloon nearly into space.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Carl Stevens reports
Nineteen eighth graders cheered as they launched “Near Space Balloon” from a playground in New Hampshire.
The balloon carried a load that included a GPS device, so they can track its progress.
It is the end result of a lot of math and science study.
After the balloon took off, so did the students for Southeastern Mass., hoping to catch up with the balloon as it lands somewhere in that neck of the woods.
